FIOS TV One VMS4100 A/V Sync Issues

I just recently upgraded to FIOS TV One which includes the VMS4100 media server and 3 clients.  I have an LG 70UH6350 TV (4K, UHD, HDR Pro) and a Vizio Soundbar SB4551 (5.1).  Prior to the FIOS upgrade I had the older Motorola  7232-P2 DVR  and several Motorola 7100 HD STB's. I never had the previous VMS 1100.  On my new VMS4100 I have noticed significant A/V sync issues.  I never had any A/V sync issues with the 7232 DVR.  The Vizio soundbar and the VMS4100 are both connected via HDMI with ARC - CEC enabled.  I have read that this was an issue for the VMS1100 about a year ago.  Back then it was recommended to go into user settings and set HDMI output to L-PCM as a workaround.  I also read that there was an update at that time that was going to fix the issue.  That thread seemed to die out in activity around that time so assuming that maybe an update was received to fix that issue on the VMS1100.  So now that I have the VMS4100 I am experiencing the same A/V sync issues that others reported in the past.   I tried the same workaround and it seems to have worked. I used an old remote and pressed the green D button for 10 seconds to get into user settings and set HDMI output to L-PCM. There is not much info yet on the new voice remotes with the VMS4100 but I found that you can get into user settings by pressing the power button and then the OK button twice. This will put you in diagnostics but then press the left arrow button to get to the main menu to select user settings. When pressing power off it may also turn off your TV so prior to doing this point the remote to a different area away from the TV so it does not turn off the TV and just the VMS4100 gets turned off, then press OK twice as described above.

 

I wanted to start this thread to help others since the VMS4100 is so new and to let it be known that these boxes are having the same issue reported over the years with other prior STB's. I want to make it known to Verizon so that hopefully there will be a fix for this and the workaround will not be necessary.  My VMS4100 is at release APR6.0, Build Number 22.45.

one more update on this. I realized how to get into user settings on the new remote. As prior user stated, you need to press Power then OK twice. However, pressing power turns off both the STB and your TV.  So when pressing power point it away from your TV so that the TV stays on but the VMS4100 powers off.  Or use your TV's remote to power the TV back on with the VMS 4100 off. Then press OK twice.  But this will actually put you in diagnostics so that you cannot update any settings.  From there press the left arrow which will bring you back to the main menu and then you can select the user settings menu.  In their you will see additional HDMI settings, click on it and then you will see HDMI Output probably set to Auto. Use the arrow keys to change the value to L-PCM and then press OK too save the value otherwise it will revert back.  Hopefully verizon will update the VMS4100 so that this will not be necessary.

Rebooting the stb did it! I can now go out 13 days. Better than 3 days but not as far as I used to be able to go. I really appreciate the help. Thanks.

Can't delete recordings with Cisco 435 multi room dvr and external hard drive

Started a month or so after I connected an external drive, however, the recordings that I cannot delete were recorded on the DVR, not the external drive. I've disconnected the external drive and reset the DVR (using menu), but the problem persists.

 

I see this has been reported by others for several years, but none of the suggestions has been a fix. Perhaps if others chimed in, the volume would attract Verizon's attention.

This is an incredibly frustrating issue, thank you for starting this thread. I don’t want to compromise the WiFi through the (amazing) google routers. Is there any way to get Verizon to fix this?

Same for me.  The repair ticket is now closed but the problem remains.  What's wrong Verizon?

I think a poorly trained support staff. I finally managed to get to the option where I could chat with a live person. After working with them for a while they decided that I needed to reset my router. I asked if I would lose anything, his reply was no, everything will be the same and I would be automatically reconnected to the chat. Wrong! It reset everything, including the password. After playing around to get my computer to connect to the router the chat session was lost. Not everyone has the luxury of having the router near the computer, mine happens to be well out of reach and sight. Even so, the tech person should have known that doing a reset would erase any changes to default.


Does Save/Restore Settings work?

Not sure if I'm misunderstanding how it is supposed to work or not.

 

So, before I chatted with Tech Support about the issue I was having I saved my settings. After we resolved the issue I restored the settings, expecting Favorites to be restored, they weren't. My F1 restored to all channels, prior to that it was Subscribed channels, less the ones we don't watch. Now I have to go back and remove all of those channels again.

 

Should Restore have put F1 back to what I saved, or am I understanding Save/Restore wrong?

wireless STBs? Where are they?

When I moved 6 weeks ago, I paid to have Verizon connect our TV service bc of challenges with cabling. They just strung cable across the middle of two rooms (which I could have done myself) and didn't even install upstairs bc they said within a week or two, they would have wireless STB's, and I could just upgrade to those to avoid the hassle and expense of running the cables through the house. I am finding nothing online about these wireless boxes. Can we get them?

Yes. FiOS TV One has been available mostly everywhere for over a month. Call 1-800-Verizon and place an order.

always set top, I’m pretty sure the having 2 dvr boxes is what’s causing this, I need to figure out how to make a dvr box into just a regular box 

Resetting a dvr box

How would I go about resetting a dvr box? I just updated to TV One and they sent me 2 dvr boxes (I don’t know why) and when I set up the 2nd i accidentally connected it to the 1st box and now everything double records. I need to reset the 2nd box to stop this.

Installed Fios TV One - 1 main unit and 2 minis.  On the main unit and 1 of the minis, the left lights are white and the right lights are off.  On the 2nd mini, the left light is white and the right light is green.  Why are the lights on the 2 minis different, and what does the right green light on 1 of the minis, but not the other, indicate?

3rd Party Content Provider Apps saying I am not Subscribed?

I don't know if it is because my services aren't installed yet, but I cannot watch content on any content provider (eg. Nick, Disney Channel, etc.). I've downloaded the apps on my android phone and I can authenticate but then the app says I am not subscribed to the channel. I have the Ultimate TV HD package and can watch on the FIos TV app so I am confused as to why the content provider apps don't think I am subscribed. I spoke to a tech in the Fios Chat but they refused to help me since it is a 3rd party app.

 

Has anyone ran into this issue before? Am I supposed to have my services installed before it starts working?

One the main DVR the left LED white and right off is normal. Unless you are recording then the right light is red  

On the minis the left LED is white and right LED is green us also normal. The green light is the MoCA light. Similar to the little house icon on the top left display on the old VMS1100 STBs.

Not sure why the other mini box doesn't have the green light. Is it working ok? How is it connected? Coax or Wifi?

I would call back up and request a mini. There is no reason to have to DVRs unless you have Premium DVR. 

Since FiOS TV One just came out there will be some bugs to work through. Best thing to do is to call tech support so these issues can be documented and fixed with future updates.

Thanks for the helpful information.

The mini without the green light is connected by coax (the mini with the green light is connected by wifi).  I doubt it matters, but the mini without the green light is connected to an old non-HD TV.

Does anyone know if the new remote can access the smart Apps on my TV or do you still need a separate remote? I can't access either Amazon prime Video nor Hulu using voice commands

7216 IR Not Working Anymore

My QIP 7216 no longer works in the front or back. A couple weeks ago I plugged in a Verizon IR Extender. Worked for a few minutes then stopped working. Now both the back and fron IR don't work. Remote is fine but tried another one anyway and same issue.

 

Did soft boots with Verizon support. One fellow suggested a Cold Boot but didn't know the commands to try it. He also said it might erase or make unusable all my recordings both internally and on my External Sata Drive.

 

Anyone have any other advice to offer to fix this issue?  Otherwise, I just have to watch everything recoreded and then replace this 7216.

 

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
