Yeah, I think I understand now what's going on here. I had started with what I thought was a reasonable assumption -- that watching "my programming" on an iPad in my house, as the ad said, would pull content from our DVR. I am very disappointed to find that you can't do this. So, I guess I now have a feature request to Verizon.
But while looking into this, I found I can My Fios on my iPhone as a remote controller for my DVR which makes it easier to type names of programs. I can also use the DVR portion of My Fios to check what programs are going to be recorded and cancel them or add others. That's cool. I could also watch On Demand content there, but since we never use that feature, it doesn't help me.
So, Verizon, any chance you could make it possible to watch content recorded on our DVR on an iPad or iPhone? Thanks!
