HBOGO: Former HBO subscriber, cancelled, reactivated, now can't sign in or register under old name

Ok, I once had HBO under FIOS.

And HBOGO worked well.

I cancelled HBO for a time because their shows ceased being interesting to me.

I've since RE-subscribed, and now when I try to get into HBOGO, I can't just sign-in under my old HBOGO name, it instead puts me through the registration process.

So I try the registration process again, but it won't allow me to re-use my former name (because it's taken).

There is no way to circumvent this registration process and jump right to the sign-in, and there's no way to reuse my old login name.

Is this the way it's supposed to work?  I have to invent a new HBOGO id every time I re-subscribe?  Shouldn't the old ID have been reclaimed.
